"The Sem" at 3 Howard St.
"The Sem" at 3 Howard St. was originally built in 1824 on the site where the north wing of the Mary Lyon Hall now stands. "The Sem" was a classroom building for the Wheaton Female Seminary. When moved to Howard Street the building had different uses through the years. To name a few -- a straw hat factory, laundry, gymnasium, post office, dormitory and presently a home for faculty and staff.
