AH Sweet Paper Box Co.

The A.H. Sweet Paper Box Company was situated on West Main Street where the Village Plaza is today. The area was called Messingerville. Austin Messinger began making friction matches in 1858. He continued in business with his son-in-law, Andrew H. Sweet, until 1880 when they sold out to the Diamond March Company. Mr. Sweet started manufacturing paper boxes until the factory burned down in the 1920's. A more recent name for this area is Box Shop Curve.
